Qatar Open 2012: More 7 Set Madness Leading to Finals

The Quarterfinals hosted some impressive matches, the women's quarterfinal match between the big upsetter Han Ying and China's Chen Meng went the full distance after Ying led 3-1 but her classical defensive style and lack of offense left her no weapons when Meng came fighting back and Meng closed it out 4-3. The women's semifinal between Seok Ha Jung and Tie Yana also went to the final stages with Tie Yana leading a strong offensive by Ha Jung finding rhythm and ending 12-10 in the 7th.

It was also 4-3 for Ma Lin in the quarters as he trailed Jun Mizutani 3-1 but led a stunning comeback to clench the win and move into the semifinals. It was in the semifinals we saw another 4-3 win this time not in Ma's favour, he went down 4-3 to defending champion Xu Xin. Some fantastic play in the quarters though, Patrick Franziska put up a solid fight against Joo Se Hyuk but Joo prevailed in 6 sets, only to be torn to pieces in the semifinal by Wang Hao. Hao had beaten Korea's Lee Jung Woo, 4-2 in his quarterfinal match. Xu Xin had beaten Tianyi Jiang 4-0 in the quarter and now the finals are set.

Xu Xin will square off for his title defence against team mate Wang Hao, that match is coming up very soon! The women's final will see Seok Ha Jung test herself against Chen Meng of China.
