Ping Pong Runway #4: Ioanna Papadimitriou

Ioanna Papadimitriou is the Greek Aphrodite of Table Tennis for sure! The outstanding model recently returned to the USA where we competed in the same tournament at LYTTC over the weekend. It was nice to meet Ioanna after interacting with her a bit via Table Tennis Master. The ping pong model has screened in endorsements for Pepsi, L'oreal, Budweisher, L'eggs, Clairol and many more and also made a guest appearance on CSI Miami!

On the topic of image in table tennis, Ioanna says she usually wears skirts but if she wears shorts she finds that the table tennis brands are a little too masculine for her liking. On a side note she also said it's not in the forefront of her mind as it's so hard to concentrate on looking good and playing well at the same time!

While skirts are the main dresscode in her table tennis repertoire she states she rather likes the look of dresses on the other female players and thinks that the games of men and women in table tennis are different so why shouldn't their dress be also, skirts and dresses got the big thumbs up as they have in most cases!

Ioanna believes maintaining a good image is important in general, not just for table tennis but agrees that promoting table tennis is hard as the sport is so complex to follow. Of course the female players looking great can't hurt and people are fascinated when they see a female player getting in great shots against a man too! This is more common in the USA where most events are mixed entry.

When asked about modelling, Ioanna says she enjoys the freedom that modelling allows, with photoshoots usually only taking up a few days a week and leaving more time for other things...like table tennis! It was great to see her competing and enjoying the sport. Ioanna has played in the USA on a number of occasions and I must say has a scary close-table backhand! She loves the endless possibilities of table tennis and says there is always something to learn no matter how well you are playing "(or at least think you are)".
